AIDSAware Campaign & Exhibition
What: AIDSAware is a project to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS and hopefully stop the further spread of HIV by allowing each and every one of us not only to share and spread a message, but to BE a message itself. Some of the messages collected (like the one above) will be shown at the Annexe Gallery, Central Market on the 15th and 16th of May. (PT Foundation has joined up withRuumz Causes to develop this campaign as part of its activity for International AIDS Memorial Day 2010 which falls on the 16th of May this year)
When: 15th and 16th of May 2010 (Saturday and Sunday) from 12 pm to 8 pm.
Where: Annexe Gallery, Central Market, KL.
Who: EVERYONE is invited!
Why: HIV/AIDS is a global pandemic affecting millions of lives every day. Each year, the infection rate of HIV is growing exponentially, especially in underdeveloped and developing nations. In Malaysia, 13 persons get infected daily. Perhaps the biggest challenge that is facing Malaysia is that people are still largely unaware about the disease, resulting in high-risk behaviours, stigma and discrimination. This year the global theme for International AIDS Memorial Day is 'Many Lights for Human Rights', which is a rights-based approach focused on access for all to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support.
Last Friday went to Annexe Gallery to attend above mentioned event..It's been quite a time I didn't attend a charity event. Found out bout this event when I received an email from ruumz.com. It was a great nite where my friend Adam n me have a chance to meet with all great people with a beautiful heart joining together to make this event happened.
The event were so simple. Since the aim is to collect about 13,000 messages, so at the entrance of the gallery there were a wall that is used as photoshoot backdrop. Here guest can take their picture together with the messages provided by the foundation. Then the pictures will be printed (sponsored by Epson) and stick to the wall...Me? of course I took a pictures with those messages...hehehehe
The event started with a speech by Chairman of PT Foundation, Mr Hisham Hussein, then James Wong from ruumz.com and last but not least Pang (Director of Annexe Gallery). There were candlelight ceremony just rite after Pang's speech to remember those people that died because of HIV...
During the nite, I've got to meet with Osman Ali, the Director of controversial film of Bukak Api...actually we've met durng the Setem film preview at GSC Mid Valley. N it's really nice to c him again.
Osman Ali is not the only person that I talked to, there were Mr Hisham, Chairman of PT Foundation, Mr Raymond, Executive Director of PT Foundation and also Pang the Director of Annexe Gallery. It was a pleasure to meet and talked with them... really nice doe..so happening...with the craziness of Pang..sorry Pang...but u rawk boy...hehehehe
It's really a fun nite and before I make a move, me n my friend been invited to join them on the next day event called International Memorial AIDS Day Multi-faith Event at Wisma TanCom KL..and yes i will join them...
